Summer Programs
Learn to Row
MRC offers a learn to row program and for students new to rowing and who have taken previous LTR classes. It is a week long introduction to the sport of rowing and is open to area students entering 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grades in the following fall. There are several of these week long programs offered in the summer. You can choose to do one or all of the weeks of rowing. Registration for these camps fill quickly. Pre-Novice Development Camp The Pre-Novice Development camp is for athletes who have taken a learn to row camp previously who want to grow and learn more in the sport of rowing. It is ideal for rising 8th, 9th and 10th grade students who plan to join the competitive team in the Fall as a Novice rower. (This program is not a pre-requisite for rowing as a competitive Novice). Fall Programs
Fall Competitive Season Grades 8-12
The fall season runs from August/September through November. Varsity and Novice rowers/coxswains will train and may be eligible to race at the end of the season at the discretion of the coach. Both new to rowing and returning rowers are eligible to participate in the Fall season. Training is six days a week, 2 to 2.5 hours per day. Actual schedules can vary but typically, the boys will train from 3:30-6:00pm, M-F and 8:30-11:00, Saturdays and the girls will train from 5:00-7:30pm, M-F and 6:00-8:30, Saturdays. Races are subject to change but we typically will do 3-4 races in the Fall. The best way to know when registration opens is to "like" and "follow" our Facebook page - Moorestown Crew. Fall Learn to Row Grades 6-8 This is a learn to row program for kids who are in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. This is a once a week, five week, program run by our Competitive team coaches. Participating rowers will not be racing outside of practice, but rather learning to row and gaining strengh in the sport to hopefully develop a passion for it and continue on into high school. Spring Programs
Winter/Spring Season Grades 8-12
The season runs from December (starting with an indoor Erg Season) through the end of May and perhaps into June if your athlete is fortunate enough to qualify for USRowing Youth Nationals. Students, whether new to rowing or returning rowers, are eligible to participate in the season. All athletes must start the season in the erg room in December for proper conditioning and team bonding. We move to the water in mid-March. Non-medal races and medal regattas are scattered through the Spring season. Training is six days a week, M-Sa. When indoors, training will be two hours each day. Spring Season Grades 6-8 (taste of spring)
The Taste of Spring program is for students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade who want to experience both indoor training and outdoor rowing. The season will start in February with training on the ergs, transition to the water sometime in March, and end in April. Participating rowers will not be racing outside of practice, but rather learning to row and gaining strengh in the sport to hopefully develop a passion for it and continue on into high school.
