Fall 2021 Varsity and Novice Rowing Program

Moorestown Rowing Club is very excited about our Fall 2021 season! We expect a return to normalcy with regard to training and races for the 2021-2022 crew season.  We are waiting for race dates, but expect at least 5 races to be held on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

This is for all returning athletes in addition to anyone new to the sport.  We particularly encourage anyone going into 9th or 10th grade to use the Fall season to try crew.  The Fall 2021 season will have two start dates.

  • Varsity Boys and Girls (returning athletes in 10th, 11th and 12th) will start August 23rd.  Practices, in general ,will run M-Sa. Times TBD but likely in the morning prior to Labor day and switching to afternoon/evenings after Labor day.  The season will end November 8th.
  • Novice Boys and Girls (9th graders and 10th graders who have not done crew with MRC before) will start September 13th.  Practices, as noted above, will run M-Sa. Times TBD, but will be in the afternoon/evening.  The season will end November 8th.

The program is open to all students of Moorestown High School and all home-schooled students residing in Moorestown.

Practices will be held on the Cooper River at the Camden County Boathouse unless otherwise stated by the coaches during the season.  Practices can be cancelled or moved due to thunderstorms or flooding or at any time the coaches feel that it would be unsafe.  Practices will happen in light to moderate rain.

The fee for the season is $850 and can be divided into two payments of $425.  The first payment is due at time of registration and the second being due Septmber 30th.  Athletes must be paid in full by these dates in order to attend practice.  Moorestown Rowing Club does not want cost to be a burden on anyone. If you have circumstances that require special consideration pleaese contact the Commodore, Harry Faunce.  The club offers limited scholarships. All requests for consideration of a scholarship will be held in strict confidence.

If you have questions, please contact Harry Faunce at info@moorestowncrew.org.

MRC Summer 2021 Summer Racing Camp - June 21st - July 18th

Program Outline for 2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent fluid nature of regatta schedules, the U17/U19/U23 racing program will have a flexible plan with several contingencies to maximize the experience of our athletes.

Regardless of circumstances, the focus of the program will be to challenge athletes, and then use the success or failure of that challenge to reinforce growth and grit. To that end, athletes will be grouped by gender and ability, to better personalize the experience each athlete has.

The program will focus on competitive training, with an eye towards successful performance at USRowing Nationals held at the Cooper River July 13-18. Video review, ergometer training, and seminars on choice topics will reinforce on-water sessions. Athletes will be grouped based skill level, mindset, and level of fitness.

Schedule:  June 21st - July 18th, 7AM – 9:30AM, Monday through Friday. Saturday practices may be added as well.

Requirements

We are looking for athletes who:

  • want a challenging and competitive environment
  • want to improve their stroke mechanics, strength, and stamina
  • want the skills and knowledge set that will help them to become well-rounded athletes
  • have a positive mindset towards work and working with others

Cost: $750

All athletes must be active and registered USRowing members through August 2021, with a signed USRowing waiver. Athletes must have a “Basic membership + Regatta Package” or “Championship” membership.
